How to connect to your AVD desktop
You can access your AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop) using the Windows App.
Microsoft is retiring the old Microsoft Remote Desktop app by March 2026, and we are no longer deploying it to user devices. The Windows App is now the standard and will auto-update moving forward.
🔧 Note: The Windows App is already installed on your computer—you do not need to install anything.
using the Remote Desktop (on AR Global Managed Laptops)

When opening if your Remote App Looks like this:

Select Subscribe
Sign In by selecting your e-mail or typing it in.

Give it a few seconds to complete

After you are signed in select NHP AVDs

Enter your username and password:

using the Windows App (recommended)
- Open the Windows App from your Start Menu.
💡 If you don't see it, search for “Windows App.”

- Select NHP AVDs and Connect
- Sign in with your work email address, if prompted.
- Click on your assigned AVD desktop.
- When the Windows Securityscreen appears:

Do NOT enter your PIN.
- Click “More choices.”
- Select your email address or username.
- Enter your email password (your Windows/Microsoft 365 password).
- You’re in. Welcome to your virtual desktop.
- Remember when you log off, do not select the X at the top! You will have fslogix profile issues

🛑 Reminder: Microsoft Remote Desktop is no longer supported in our environment. People have it are using it until we migrate them over into Intune.
Use only the Windows App to access AVD going forward.
If you want Single Monitor Only:
Next to Connect, select … and Settings
