Set up Microsoft Authenticator on your new phone
📌Make sure you have access to your computer and your phone. You'll be jumping between both.
1. Install the Microsoft Authenticator app
On your new phone:
• Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
• Search for Microsoft Authenticator.
• Tap Install or Get.
• Once installed, don’t open it yet.
2. On your computer, go to:

• Sign in with your work or school Microsoft account if prompted.
3. Add your new phone
• Click + Add sign-in method.

• Select Microsoft Authenticator from the list.

Set up Microsoft Authenticator on your new phone
• Click Next.

• Click Select Microsoft Authenticator.

• Click Next.

4. Link your account in the app
On your phone:
• Open the Microsoft Authenticator app.
• Tap the + button (top right corner) or (top left corner - if android)
• Choose Work or school account.
• Select Scan QR Code.
Back on your computer:
• You’ll see a QR Code on screen.
• Use your phone to scan the QR Code.

• After it connects, click Next on your computer.
5. Approve the test notification
• Microsoft will send a test push to your phone.
• Tap Approve in the Authenticator app.
✅Done!
You’ve just paired your new phone with Microsoft Authenticator. This phone will now be used for your 2-step verification when signing in.
